Matcha・Tea ceremony

A little tea time in your everyday life

A bowl of matcha, a seasonal sweet, a flower on the table.

Our Table Tea Ceremony is a gentle way to discover Japanese tea culture and bring a little of its beauty into everyday life.

Sit at the table, enjoy the season, prepare your own matcha — and simply spend some time with tea.

No seiza and no previous experience needed.

Tea, around the table

Tea ceremony does not always need a tatami room.

At Biyori, we gather around a table and enjoy tea in a way that feels natural to everyday life, while still cherishing the thoughts and traditions behind it.

A seasonal wagashi, a favourite bowl, flowers gathered for the day, and a bowl of matcha prepared for someone.

Through these small things, we begin to notice the season and the care hidden within a tea gathering.

What you may discover

There is so much inside a bowl of tea

Tea is never only about matcha.

There are the sweets, the utensils, the flowers, the season, the gestures — and above all, the thought of preparing something for another person.

During our gatherings, we slowly discover these different parts of Japanese tea culture together.

Prepare a bowl for yourself

You do not need many things to enjoy matcha at home.

A bowl you like, a chasen, some matcha — and a little time.

We will prepare tea together and learn the simple movements of whisking a bowl of matcha.

Perhaps afterwards, making tea can become one of those small moments in your day when everything feels just a little slower.

Seasonal themes

Noticing the season

A branch beginning to bloom. The moon in early autumn. The first signs of cooler days.

Japanese tea culture gives us many small ways to notice where we are in the year.

Our gatherings change with the seasons, through wagashi, flowers, utensils and the stories surrounding them.

The tea may be the same.

But the moment never is.

Private experiences

Tea for people you care about

A tea gathering can also be a lovely way to spend time together.

For a birthday, a visit from friends, a quiet celebration or simply because you would like to share something a little different.

Private Table Tea Ceremonies can be shaped around your group and the season.

We will prepare the tea, wagashi and setting so that you can simply come and enjoy the time together.

For events & Companies

Sharing a little piece of Japanese culture

Biyori can also bring tea to your event, company or cultural programme.

Rather than simply watching a demonstration, guests are invited to come closer — to taste wagashi, hold the tea bowl, whisk matcha themselves and discover some of the thoughts behind Japanese tea culture.

The format can be created around your occasion, from a small gathering to a larger event.
